A stay with the San in the Kalahari
The San, popularly known as "Bushmen", are the oldest ethnic group in Namibia. Known for their deep understanding of nature and its ecology, some still follow a traditional hunter and gatherer lifstyle. While the women gather fruits, berries and the wild onions that are rich in starch, the men hunt. Bushmen can tell the difference between hundreds of plants. They are also thought as excellent trackers. Despite their traditional nomadic lifestyle, several thousand years ago, there are remembrances of their existence, found in the rock paintings known as “The White Lady” in Namibia’s highest mountain, the Spitzkoppe. Close to the village of Tsumkwe you will camp with a tour guide next to a bushmen village and get to know their culture.
