Makalani palms and wide meadowlands

Giraffes in Etosha"Africa light" is a common description of Namibia’s central and southern regions. There, travellers encounter lots of game living in the quiet savannah, desert and, many times, see it all without encountering another human soul.

But the more you are head North, the greener it gets, becoming a land filled with makalani palms and wide meadowlands. Life seems to explode in the more densely populated North and in the Caprivi Strip. There, you will roam through lush jungles accompanied by the sounds of tropical birds and monkeys. In the markets you will see woodcarvers, greengrocers and farmers who offer their goods. Crocodiles are seen sunbathing along the shore of the Kavango-river, the only river in Namibia where water flows throughout the year. Elephants cross this deep river lifting their trunk high up like a snorkel as their bodies disappear under the water.

During the rainy season mushrooms grow from termite hills the size of dinner plates. It is a regional delicacy, served in Lodges and Guesthouses from January through April. These mushrooms are fried in oil, baked, crumbed or even roasted as steaks.

Chobe River LodgeIf you want to explore two contrasting worlds, we suggest a national flight to bridge the distance. As an example fly from Windhoek to Katima Mulilo. With a multi-lingual tour guide there is ample opportunity to get in touch with locals and be welcomed at farms, lodges and private places.

Just note down your initial ideas of what you would like to see. We will then begin writing your individualized itinerary.
