Fog drinkers and Cart wheeling Spiders

Gecko auf der HandRight behind Swakopmund one can see the Dunes of the Namib Desert.  While Chris let some air pass out of the tyres of the landrover, so that it can manage the tricky, soft sand, he tells of the "mistive" of the desert:  the plants rests consumed by the silverfish and thereby starting the food chain.  Where others barely see a small hole in the sand, Chris would excitedly jump out of the car and expertly grab a gecko. The entire group is allowed to inspect it and even hold it - the gecko won't mind as it will stand very still on your hand.  Even the small blind worms will permit you handling them. Over the years, the harsh conditions of the Namib Desert has forced some animals to improvise for survival. The Tok-tokkie beetles stand up on their hind legs to catch some moisture from the morning desert fog for hydration.

Chamäleon fährt die Zunge ausDesert lizards speed like small race cars over the glowing sand to prevent from being scalded, as the temperatures of the desert sand soar and to avoid any predators. With some luck, you might find the sidewinder adder and scorpions in this lifeless looking environment.  Or the dancing "White Lady", that hides in the sand, waiting for prey, and that can roll up to 44 revolutions on a second to escape their enemies. If you find a chameleon, you can feed it with some beetles, and watch closely how his sticky tongue shoots at the food you serve him.

Geländewagen in der WüsteNot to forget:  Some vehicles can make it up a 100m Dune where you can enjoy the scenery.
